Frequently Asked Questions
What is the FES Institute?
The FES Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing the development, dissemination, and education of neurostimulation and neuromodulation research, and to bringing that research into clinical care that improves the lives of people with disabilities.
How is the Institute connected to the Cleveland FES Center?
The FES Institute is the nonprofit partner of the Cleveland FES Center, a research consortium that has pioneered functional electrical stimulation for more than three decades. The Institute supports the Center’s education, awareness, and community programs.
What is functional electrical stimulation?
Functional electrical stimulation, also called neuromodulation, uses safe, low-level electrical currents to activate or restore activity in the nervous system. It can help people regain movement and function after an injury or disease affecting the nerves, spinal cord, or brain.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. The FES Institute is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN 34-1854326), so contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How can I support the Institute?
Your gift helps fund research dissemination, educational initiatives, and community engagement that bring these technologies to the people who need them. You can contribute any time using the Donate button, and every contribution makes a difference.
