The FES Institute (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit fesinstitute.org (the “Site”), use our mobile application (the “App”), make a donation, or contact us.
Information We Collect
Information you provide. When you make a donation or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and payment information. Payment details are processed securely by our third-party payment provider and are not stored on our servers.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies.
How We Use Your Information
- To process and acknowledge donations
- To respond to your questions and requests
- To send updates about our work, if you have asked to receive them
- To send notifications you have asked to receive through the App
- To maintain, improve, and secure the Site and the App
- To comply with legal and reporting obligations
How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the Site and the App and process donations, such as payment processors, hosting providers, and the service that delivers our app notifications, only as needed to perform their services, and with authorities when required by law or to protect our rights.
Cookies and Analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to enable core functionality and to understand how visitors use the Site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect some features.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-Party Links
The Site may link to other websites, including the Cleveland FES Center. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies.
Our Mobile Application
The Cleveland FES Center mobile application provides informational content about the Institute and the Cleveland FES Center. It has no accounts or sign-in, and we do not collect your name, email address, or location through the App.
Notifications. If you choose to enable notifications, your device is issued an anonymous push token by Expo, the service that delivers them. We store that token together with your device’s platform (iOS or Android) so we can send reminders about upcoming events and alerts about new posts from the Center. This token identifies a device, not a person. It is not linked to your name, email address, or any other information about you, and we do not use it for advertising, analytics, or tracking you across other apps or websites.
You can stop this at any time by turning notifications off in the App’s Settings screen, which deletes the token from our servers, or by revoking notification permission in your device settings. Tokens are also removed automatically once Expo reports them as no longer valid.
The App does not request or collect your location. Weather shown in the App is for the Center’s own address, not for wherever you happen to be.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Choices
You may opt out of our communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us. You may turn off App notifications at any time in the App’s Settings screen. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
